2024-2025 Welcome!

2024-2025 Welcome!

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year.

We are very excited to get this school year started!  Our skilled, devoted, and thought-provoking staff are prepared and looking forward to inspire (and be inspired by) our students and to learn, grow, and connect with them.  Our teachers and staff are the finest they come!

Providing some history about our little gem of a school...South Range Elementary School opened its doors in 1966.  At that time, the 20 classroom school building was designed to accommodate up to 550 students in grades 1 through 6.  Our school has now evolved into a kindergarten through 4th grade building, beginning this school year with about 340 students. During this over 50 year evolution, portable classrooms and offices were constructed in front of the school, 6th grade moved to the middle school, renovations and construction of the back wing occurred, the portables were removed, and kindergarten joined our school.

To this day, South Range School maintains a strong, family-friendly feeling.  Our school is a place where children and adults enthusiastically come to learn every day.  We continue to have a very active PTA and a strong volunteer program. The PTA brings great opportunities to all of our students and staff.  They provide the following: co-curricular assemblies throughout the year; sponsor many evening socials and fun game nights; reduce the families' out of pocket expenses by partially funding field trips.  Also, our volunteer program is just as strong as ever. South Range School has been recognized annually for the New Hampshire Blue Ribbon Award for volunteerism for over 35 consecutive years.

As a school community, we pride ourselves on a strong focus on the whole child.  In addition to the curricular academic areas, we emphasize and maintain a strong focus on good citizenship and social/emotional awareness and well-being.  We feel that it is difficult to learn in school without the feeling of safety and positive social/emotional health. The mindful habits of courage, persistence, optimism, resilience, and flexibility are priorities at South Range School. We also follow the C.A.R.E.S framework which focuses on cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self-control.  Each day begins with a morning meeting focusing on these mindful habits and life-long skills.

Please mark your calendars for August 26th. We will be hosting a Meet and Greet from 9:00am-10:30am. This window of time will be an opportunity for students and families to meet the teacher and familiarize themselves with the school and classroom.

On behalf of the South Range School staff, I thank you for your partnership in your child’s educational journey.

As always, I invite you to visit or call at any time.

Matt Olsen, Principal
